The implementation of the comprehensive approach to the hard waste control is very necessary for Ukraine in state scale. The problem of the shortage of the new polygons, the worked out resources of the areas and their discrepancy to the modern ecological standards can be solved only in this way. Such problem gave rise to a large quantity of non authorized dumps. The basis of modern hard waste control system is minimization of the waste, separate collection, recycling and safe waste utilization which can not be reclamated.
Today the separate collection allows using more then 70 % of waste repeatedly as the raw materials. There is a possibility to extract only up to 15% of useful components from total (unsorted) waste.
The implementation of the waste separate collection can be realized in two main ways, according to the type of sorting complex.
The first way is a double factional separate collection. It means an installation of two containers on the containers ground. One is for resource-valuable fractions (glass, metal, waste paper, and plastic), another is for the waste which can not be used repeatedly (dirty packaging and food waste).
The second way is a four factional separate collection. Such way allows to sort waste in for containers of different color: yellow container is for the waste paper, blue container is for the polyethylene waste, green container is for glass and grey container is for food waste.
There are other ways of waste factional separation. The method of technology is principally based on the collection in separate fractions of waste that can be used repeatedly, and waste that can not be used as secondary raw materials (food waste, foul materials).
First separate waste collections project was realized by “GreenCo” successfully in Podolskiy, Goloseevskiy and Shevchenkivskiy regions of Kiev city.
